Camp Callabar is a state licensed children’s day camp which has been quietly operating for many decades.
Children from kindergarten age through eighth grade, and frequently longer, are provided with a structured, well supervised, affordable full day program. In order to send your children to Camp Callabar you must be a member. Learn more about membership here.
Camp includes Swimming and Tennis Instruction, Organized games and Arts & Crafts. Field Trips, Guest Speakers, Talent Shows, and inter-camp tennis competition are all part of the summer experience.
Our certified instructors work diligently with each camper, at all levels of capability to assure a fun and productive water experience.
Your beginners will be gently introduced to the water through personalized individual attention in the shallow area of our pool. The more advanced groups also learn water survival and lifeguarding instructions. All campers ultimately receive daily instruction in Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Sidestroke and Butterfly.
Young players are instructed throughout the summer by coaches and specialized counselors in basic strokes and fundamentals of the game. As they progress they play various tennis oriented games, such as “tennis baseball”. Older players receive more advanced instruction, learning scoring, serving and playing in singles and doubles matches. Friendly club matches are scheduled against other local organizations.
Several local current tennis personalities were former Callabar Campers.
